A world without silence
We’re excited to unveil the official trailer for Un monde sans silence (A World Without Silence), a short film created entirely during our 7-week residency in the South of France.
The residency brought together six talented residents, who collaborated to write, film, and direct the editing of this remarkable project. The theme centered on whales in the Mediterranean, and the group chose to highlight the pressing issue of noise pollution from the perspective of these majestic creatures.
This film wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of everyone who contributed to the project, including the invaluable scientific advice that informed and enriched the narrative. Their insights helped illuminate how even small human-made sounds can profoundly impact the lives of large cetaceans.
The aim of Un monde sans silence is to raise awareness about anthropogenic noise pollution, foster a deeper understanding and love for these incredible animals, and inspire action to protect them.
Stay tuned for the full release of the film!

Oleksandr Riabokin – Architect, Educator, and Visionary
Oleksandr Riabokin is a 40-year-old architect based in Dnipro, Ukraine. He pursued his architectural education at both college and university, developing a deep passion for design, sustainability, and innovation.
His interests extend beyond architecture to include ecology, sports, photography, travel, emerging technologies, 3D modelling, and 3D printing. In addition to his architectural practice, he teaches architectural disciplines, inspiring students to explore creative solutions and participate in competitions. He actively takes part in competitions himself, viewing them as opportunities to push boundaries and create unique, thought-provoking designs.
The winning design
In his winning project, Ryabokin explores the relationship between humanity and nature, emphasizing that humans are an integral part of the ecosystem rather than separate from it. His design serves as a powerful visual statement, provoking emotional responses and prompting reflection on the urgent need for ecological action.
The Whale as Earth – A symbol of life and resilience, yet increasingly a victim of human negligence. The cracks and scars on its body represent the slow destruction of the planet due to human activity.
The City as a Disaster – A depiction of uncontrolled urbanisation and its devastating consequences, including pollution, resource depletion, and the gradual erosion of life itself.
Through this project, Ryabokin challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with nature and recognise the pressing need for sustainable change.
